About

Welcome to the new history project of the Ozark Regional Library. The library is building a collection of mixed-media documentation of our region, currently focused on Madison County. This website will serve as a place to find information about the buildings, people, organizations and communities that have been a part of the history of Madison County. Using the site is easy. You can browse through “items” or collections of items. It’s also possible to search for an item using the search bar or browse by keywords. Even better, you’ll see that we are also building exhibits around important elements of our community history.

So, for example, an exhibit built around the Madison County Courthouse will document different aspects of that building’s history in our community. Other exhibits currently being created include Stores and Shops of Madison County, Mines of Madison County, Trains, Planes and Automobiles.

These exhibits include both images and articles and will also include links to related recordings of our ongoing oral history interview series, Voices of the Ozarks .

Exhibits will change as new images and text become available, offering more detail about the story of the subject or theme. Want to contribute to our project?

We are looking for volunteers as well as resources such as images which can be scanned and sent to us or brought by the library where a volunteer will scan or copy the available resource. Our exhibits are never complete and can always have new details added for a more complete story. If you have access to information that you believe will improve an exhibit please get in touch.
